Urban Walkability

What is urban walkability?

According to Planopedia (a resource for urban planning), “Walkability refers to the ability to safely walk to amenities within a reasonable distance, usually defined as a walk of 30 minutes or less."

This is an important benchmark for the health and vitality of an urban environment, and cities across America have been working towards building more walkable downtowns. While Bakersfield has historically ranked low on the walkability scale, we're proud to say that we're seeing a positive change in our neck of the woods.

Through the hard work of our residents, neighbors, and other local business owners, Eastchester is quickly becoming one of the most accessible areas in town.

From 17th Place Townhomes and The Cue, you have quick access to shops, restaurants, community events, and more – all without needing a vehicle. See it for yourself with the live map below! As we develop our other new properties, 918 and Cléo, we're excited to see what other new businesses open up in the area as well.

We love seeing everyone enjoy our city in a new way, and can't wait to see what the future holds for Bakersfield!
